The Hausa, an ethnic group living in various parts of Africa, have had a great influence on African cuisine. One of their most famous dishes, especially eaten as a late breakfast, is Hausa Koko .

Hausa Koko  is a porridge made from millet that tastes slightly sour and spicy as it is mostly mixed with ginger and pepper. Mostly Hausa Koko is served with a deep-fried cake made from bean flour (called koose or akara) or a Nigerian snack called puff puff (consists mainly of flour, sugar and ground nuts).
